About
Ovation School of Dance was started in 2009 with a mission to encourage people of all ages to enjoy movement. Over the past 12 years our studio has grown and moved to meet the needs of our students.
Owner and Director Aylish Lynch began dancing at age 4. She studied classical ballet and participated in the examination process through the Royal Academy of Dance.
Aylish attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received her BS in Exercise Science with a Minor in Dance in 2001. While at IUP, Aylish was a member of the IUP Dance Theater. During her six years with the company, including two years as a graduate assistant, she performed in numerous shows. She also had the opportunity to perform with Dance Alloy and Headlong Dance Theater during their artistic residencies at IUP.
Aylish continued her education at the State University of New York College at Brockport. She received her MA in Dance in 2008 with a focus on Dance Science and Somatics. She worked as a graduate assistant serving as a mentor to the freshman dance majors, in addition to performing in several MFA thesis productions and having her own choreography selected for performance.
In 2009, Aylish opened Ovation School of Dance in order to combine her love of dance and fitness. She has been a licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor since 2009, and in 2012 she became a certified Bodiography Instructor. She became a licensed Strong by Zumba® instructor in December 2018. Recently, she has taken her experience as a fitness and dance instructor to the next level by launching her own cardio dance fitness program called Party-O.
In order to meet the needs of the growing studio, Aylish has continued to expand her education and outreach. The studio hosted a Zumbini Instructor training to become one of the first studios in the area offering this new program for young children. She has also been named an Ambassador for the National Dance Week Foundation which strives to promote dance for people of all ages and abilities.
